How to Start Using The Smart Pallet

You can purchase one or several pallets marked with QR codes from Nefab. To then use the pallet, meaning sending and receiving packages to and from it and using it as a logistics hub in various ways, you will need LogTrade’s delivery management system along with the additive feature “CLC.”

Via LogTrade, you will be provided with customized access to Ericsson’s Connected Logistics Cloud (CLC). CLC is Ericsson’s global network for logistics. LogTrade will help you get on board CLC so you can start using the pallet. Both LogTrade and CLC are cloud-based systems working in real-time.

If you want, you can, of course, build your own system that validates the pallet’s shipping information and location data directly into Ericsson’s CLC, or even make your own CLC based on Ericsson’s global standard for logistics (IoL).

With a LogTrade license, however, you will get a delivery management system that can give you and the pallets direct access to CLC—plug and play. LogTrade also provides you with a high-quality system for creating and managing your own delivery chain, using whichever carriers, pallets (locations), and products you want.

Thus, it is not only the pallet that you can easily and quickly begin using with the help of LogTrade. With a LogTrade license, you will get the delivery management system that you need to be able to use the carriers and sites you need to ship, store, and deliver optimally.

With access to CLC, you can turn whatever you want into a pick-up or drop-off location or a carrier; for example, a Smart Pallet placed in front of a house can be a pick-up/drop-off location, and a bike messenger can be a carrier.

LogTrade will also give you access to CLC via the ERP system you are already using, regardless of whether it is Microsoft NAV, Jeeves, Visma, or something else.

How Do I Scan the Pallets?

Every pallet has been labeled with a QR code containing the pallet’s unique identifier, or URI. LogTrade, together with Ericsson, has developed two apps that can be used to scan the QR code:

OneTouch has been tailored for those of you who want to send or receive goods or products. You can use the app to scan the QR code on the pallet and the product, and register what you are doing to it, such as “removing it from the pallet,” “returning the product to the pallet,” “mounting the product,” and so on.

Driver App is similar but is customized to suit the needs of the carrier—usually a driver. One important feature in this app is the signature feature, which enables signatures by senders or recipients.

Both apps are easy to use and are “all-you-need” for everyone throughout the delivery chain. They also work in real-time, since both LogTrade and CLC are real-time cloud-based systems. The apps will be available in the App Store soon.

How is CLC Connected to IoL?

Ericsson’s global standard for logistics, the Internet of Logistics (IoL), provides a common language and network for communication for all packages, products, carriers, and sites. The IoL can and will continue to be accessible via Ericsson’s semantic cloud for IoL, called Connected Logistics Cloud (CLC). You can have a look at the CLC portal here (login required).
